Framework for Teaching

Teacher Leadership

Purpose of Training

  • Define all aspects of effective teaching.
  • Delineate a continuum of growth for improvement and continuous learning.
  • Define skills demonstrated by teacher leaders and aspects of school culture that support teacher leadership.

Description of Training

In the "Framework for Teaching", Charlotte Danielson has described those aspects of a teacher's responsibilities that have been documented through empirical studies and theoretical research as promoting improved student learning. These responsibilities seek to define what teachers should know and be able to do in the exercise of their profession.

"Teacher Leadership That Strengthens Professional Practice" refers to a set of skills demonstrated by teachers who continue to teach students but also have an influence that extends beyond their own classrooms to other within their own school and elsewhere. It entails mobilizing and energizing others with the goal of improving the schools' performance.
